05.24.04

Hey gang. Wow, where have I been? Well, I've been writing and working and I'm happy to announce that I'll be posting a new song within the next week or so. The song is called Annabelle. I finished tracking guitars last night and I'll be adding other little noises this evening so this post is going to be kinda short. Due to a scheduling conflict and the fact that I had the worst case of bronchitis I've had in years, the show that was suppose to take place with One Trip Garden this past weekend was rescheduled to June 19th and it's going to be an afternoon show. It's going to be an outside show at the Sugarloaf Station Pub so, if you've ever hung out in the sun and enjoyed a pint in Sugarloaf, NY, you'll know that it's going to be a memorable time.

In other news, some dear and crazy friends along w/ myself are proud to announce the Media5 blog. You can read along @ media5.blogspot.com. We'll be rocking daily posts about music, farm animals, and other notable goo. So it looks like that's it for now but check back soon for the new tune and other show announcements.

Hey everybody. Got a bunch of news to share with y'all.....The Joe Muggs Coffee House Vol. 2 record is now available online. It features a new acoustic version of Aaron Brotherton's tune You Don't Need Me on which I do a bit of noodling. The CD itself features a bunch of really great songs and artists so check it out here.

I've got a few shows coming up over the next few weeks w/ One Trip Garden. Check out the shows page for more details.

Ok, I need you tell you guys about one of the coolest videos and songs I've heard in a long time. It's by Modest Mouse and the song is called Float On. If you have a second check this video out.

In other news, George Skala (former Swingset and Kaliope singer) just released a new record w/ his new band Pushing Zero. Check out their site and say hi.

Lastly, a sad farewell to New York's Secret Weapon who played their last show @ Meow Mix on 3.20.

That's it for now.

03.23.04

Hey everybody. I just wanted to bring everyone up to speed on upcoming gigs and other bits. I'll be opening for One Trip Garden on 4.9.04 @ Boone Dog's Cafe in Brewster, NY. I've been told that the venue is an intimate one so I'm really looking forward to it. I'll also be supporting the same crew (OTG) on 5.14.04 @ Sugarloaf Station Pub in Sugar Loaf, NY. You can check my shows page for exact times.

I've been behind the boards recording a bunch as of late so I hope to have a new track and some remixes of old things up shortly. At this point, I think a new GnR record is more likely than a solo release from yours truly but don't give up on me just yet. If only I had their budget.....See-y'all soon.

02.17.04

Hey everyone. I'd just like to thank all of you that came out to the Golden Rail show on Friday night and a special thanks to One Trip Garden for inviting me out. Sadly, I didn't get any pictures but I'll definitely make a better effort next time. I had a great time up in Newburgh and I can't wait to do it again so with that said, I'm pleased to announce that I'll be supporting OTG on March 20th in Portland, CT at The Soaring Eagle. More details about that and other shows in the city are forthcoming so stay tuned.

02.11.04

Greetings everybody. So they say that recording music is always a learning experience and this new recording of a rather old tune entitled Simpler has certainly been more of a learning experience than I could ever have imagined. It's the first time I've ever tried to contend with instruments other than just an acoustic guitar while recording solo stuff. This is also the first time I've ever programmed drums, played bass on a track, engineered and mixed a full "band" and I've fought all of these elements for nearly 4 days straight. And now, I can't wait to do it again. Music is amazing in that way.

And just as a reminder, I'll be performing solo this Friday night supporting One Trip Garden in Newburgh, NY at the Golden Rail. More details about this show are listed on my shows page.

I hope you enjoy the new tune (which may undergo some remixing here and there so check back) and I'll see you all very soon. - josh

Hey everybody. I hope y'all had a great holiday. I just want to take a second to say thank you to everyone at Buckfield Jr./Sr. High School for a great time in December. In case you haven't seen them, I've got a few pictures on my photos page from the trip. If anybody has other pictures that they'd like to share you can e-mail them to josh@joshpreston.com and we'll try to put them up.

Things are starting to kick into high gear yet again...The next live bit on the schedule is on Feb. 13th in Newburgh, NY supporting One Trip Garden. If you're in the area, please stop by. Other shows for NYC are being planned now so please check back. See-ya soon.
